Josephine
Haden was awarded
a Virginia Museum of Fine Arts Fellowship for 2008-09.
The
fellowship honors
professional artists with monetary awards to support their work. The Virginia
Museum of Fine Arts has sponsored these fellowships for 68 years.
The juror making the selection was
Jeffrey Grove, Wieland Family Curator of Modern & Contemporary Art, High Museum of Art,
Atlanta, GA.

Paintings
Mid-Atlantic edition No. 75 (Open Studio Press, April 2008), juried by Jenelle Porter,
Associate Curator, ICA (Institute of Contemporary Art) at the University of
Pennsylvania.
New American Paintings is a juried exhibition-in-print. Each
regionally focused edition of this juried competition, presents the
work of some 40 painters.
In her curatorial statement,
Porter says: ". . . fear not, Painting is not dead . . .painting is very
much alive and kicking . . . something about each of the artist's work struck me
. . . exploring color and form . . . find new territory to explore in
representation and the figure . . . Animals are popular, both the peaceable and
not-so-peaceable kingdom permutations.

exhibition entitled “Not to Scale” at the Target Gallery, Alexandria, Virginia.
Earlier this year, five of her paintings on wood (from the
Nobody's Real series, right image)
were featured in the new

Esquire magazine (December 2005/January
2006 issue).
